Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® for Self-Regulation is designed especially for registered yoga instructors who wish to incorporate evidence-based, trauma-sensitive yoga techniques into their yoga classes to help those who have high anxiety or have experienced trauma to better self-regulate their own nervous systems and energy levels to better meet life’s challenges. If you are a certified yoga therapist please fill out the form for health professionals as you will also be able to use the material presented in this course to address core issues of PTSD and promote healing from the condition. INSTRUCTORS:
Anna Molgard, B.A., E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, YACEP
Anna graduated in the spring of 2018 as a professional yoga therapist (C-IAYT) from Integrative Yoga Therapy at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. She has completed specialty training in the methodology of Bessel van der Kolk and David Emerson as a trauma sensitive yoga therapist. Anna also received advanced training by Becky Morrissey, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS at an IAYT endorsed school, in online courses with NICABM and live courses with PESI. Anna is deeply connected to the military community from her husband’s 12 years of active duty service in the US Army. She understands the unique challenges faced by military personnel and their families. Her yoga therapy practice is focused in working with clients in trauma recovery, particularly from sexual assault. She also specializes in chronic pain, particularly with hypermobility and connective tissue disorders. Anna has co-developed advanced teacher trainings and is faculty in several teacher training schools. She regularly leads engaging yoga therapy specific workshops and specialty courses. She also shares accessible yoga therapy based online classes for people managing chronic pain. Anna serves as a faculty member with the Sensory-Enhanced Yoga Institute.
Maj. (Ret.) Jeffrey Sargent, MS, C-IAYT, E-RYT, YACEP
Jeffrey Sargent, retired Major with the U.S. Army, MS Yoga Therapy, E-RYT, YACEP, has 20 years of military service, including combat tours in Iraq as a tactical intelligence officer and in Kuwait & Iraq as a Military Intelligence Company Commander. He is the recipient of The Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Meritorious Service Medals, and numerous other awards including being selected as the #1 ROTC graduate in the United States in 1996. Jeff enlisted in the Army in 1986 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant before entering officer training. After retiring from the Army in 2009 Jeff worked as a government contractor for five years training military personnel who were preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan. During this time Jeff discovered yoga and immediately recognized the potential physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits. It has had tremendous impact on his life including helping him with his own battles with military service related PTSD and a 30 year struggle with eating disorders. Since this journey began he has completed two 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, Warriors at Ease training, iRest Level 1 training, and will finish his Master of Science degree in Yoga Therapy at Maryland University of Integrative Health in July 2017. Jeff serves as a faculty member of the Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® Institute.
