20-Hour Free Webinar Series for Yoga Teachers Who Are Canadian Veterans, Military and Family Members
The knowledge translation plan for this project was developed through participation and mentorship of the SPARK program, hosted by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and Centre of Excellence on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, focusing on projects that support the mental health and well-being of veterans and their families, including retired RCMP.
Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® evolved from the only yoga study researched on an active U.S. military base in Iraq during war conditions. Results showed a significant reduction in state and trait anxiety and significant improvement in 16 out of 18 quality of life factors as compared to the control group (Stoller et al., Jan/Feb 2012 AJOT). It is also based on the book, Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® for Self-Regulation and Trauma Healing, by Lynn Stoller and an outstanding team of expert contributors.
Applies findings from the fields of occupational therapy, neurobiology, trauma psychology, and yoga to promote healing from combat stress, PTSD, anxiety, and related mental health conditions.
